13 April 2017

UPDATE: Our winners are in. Those tickets went faster than Ronnie O’Sullivan’s 147!

Congratulations to Sarah Jones, Nick Holland, Dave Shaw, Alex Capel and John Callaghan – you’re going to the Crucible tomorrow! We’ll email you with details of how to collect your tickets.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of snooker’s World Championship first being staged at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

To mark the occasion, World Snooker and Sheffield City Council are staging a special celebration event inside the famous Crucible arena from 6pm tomorrow (Friday 14 April).

And we have five pairs of tickets up for grabs, free of charge!

The event will include live interviews with former champions and current players competing in this year’s tournament, who will all be at the Crucible.

There will also be a green carpet parade across Tudor Square, featuring former World Champions and a host of players, as well as the screening of archive footage of many of the great moments of the past four decades of snooker.

Go to Sheffield Theatres at http://www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/snooker-40th-anniversaryfor more information about this exciting once-in-a-lifetime show.

The five pairs of tickets will be allocated to the first five people to email us at communications@sheffield.gov.uk, with their name (and the name of their plus one) to tell us why they love the World Snooker Championship.

For those who miss out, tickets are still available to buy from the link above, costing £20 each.

Good luck!
