It’s National Libraries Day on Saturday, 6 February. There are events happening across Sheffield on and around the day, including a teddy-bear themed li-bear-ian event at Central Children’s Library, and the first of six ‘Crafternoon’ workshops for adults at the Central Lending Library on Surrey Street.

Councillor Sioned-Mair Richards, acting cabinet member for neighbourhoods at Sheffield City Council, said: “The libraries in Sheffield are absolutely brilliant. They’re great places to visit and there’s loads going on – something for people of all ages and interests, so pop down and visit.

“I hope everyone joins in with the events on Libraries Day and throughout the year. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers across the city who help run them and provide the fantastic service for their community.”

The National Libraries Day campaign is asking people to download a #librariesday board and write a message about what their library means to them. Join in at www.nationallibrariesday.org.uk/get-involved
