Plans to help disabled people, people on low incomes and foster carers to access a range of grants and loans to adapt or improve their homes are set to be approved at cabinet meeting next week (15 January).

Grants and loans will be available up to £30,000, to help carry out adaptations to private homes and improve energy efficiency.

The assistance will be available to home owners and private renters and if approved available from 1 February 2020.

Councillor Paul Wood, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety at Sheffield City Council, said: “This proposal is part of our vision to make sure everyone in the city has a safe, warm and affordable home.  We know that some of the most vulnerable people are living in poor housing conditions or unsuitable homes. This range of affordable loans and grants should help people improve this so that they are able to live as independently as possible.”
