Monday 29 December 2014
The weekend snowfall and ongoing cold, icy conditions have resulted in a period of delays to waste and recycling collections.
Blue bins and boxes due for collection today (Monday 29 December) will not be completed. Alternative arrangements and further information will be confirmed and available on the website as soon as possible. We will be attempting black bin collections scheduled for today.
Black bin collections that were due, but could not be completed, on Saturday 27 December (the substitute day for collections due on Boxing Day, Friday 26 December) will also continue today (Monday 29 December). Further information will be available on the website should these collections not be completed.
Alternative arrangements will be made for blue bin and box collections that were not completed on Saturday 27 December (the substitute day for collections due on Boxing Day, Friday 26 December). Further information will be confirmed and available on the website as soon as possible.
During this period of disruption and where safe to do so, residents are advised to leave their bin/box out until they have been emptied.
Councillor Jayne Dunn, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Streetscene commented: “We are sorry for the delays to waste and recycling collections and are working to get these back on track as soon as we can. We will take bagged extra black bin waste that people can’t fit in their bins due to the delay in collections. Small amounts of extra cardboard will be taken if bundled at the side of the blue bin/box”.
Francis Drew, Contract Manager at Veolia commented: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank residents for their patience. We hope that the milder conditions forecast towards the end of the week will mean we can recover collections missed with the snow and ongoing icy conditions”.
