With spring well and truly in the air, Graves Park Animal Farm is the perfect place for families this Easter, with free events and activities taking place every day throughout the holidays.
Graves Park Animal Farm is always a popular attraction for families in Sheffield, but at this time of year they have even more to offer. Their event programme runs from 19 March to 3 April and with quizzes and colouring fun, meet the animals and the chance to learn all about the new spring babies, this Easter doesn’t have to be all about chocolate.
But with a special appearance from the Easter Bunny, the main event will have your little bunnies hopping around the field in search of 1000 shiny chocolate eggs and 10 special prize eggs – with Easter egg hunts on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Councillor Sioned-Mair Richards, cabinet member for neighbourhoods at Sheffield City Council said: “This is a lovely opportunity for families to get out in the fresh air, learn about spring and have a lot of fun. The farm has so much to offer all our communities and I’d encourage everyone to come along and take advantage of these exciting Easter activities.”
The event starts on Saturday 19 March, with meet the animals, colouring, quizzes and more taking place throughout each day until Sunday 3 April. They’re all free and booking is not required. At just £1 per child the Easter egg hunts are the only charged for activity with each child guaranteed to collect at least a chocolate egg or two and the chance of picking up one of 10 special prize eggs.
The farm is growing year on year and is now home to goats, pigs, sheep, cows and bulls, llamas, deer, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and more, and visitors can give them a snack with animal feed available at just a pound a cup. At present there’s over 70 ewes all due to lamb very soon, so some visitors may have the privilege of meeting brand new lambs. And let’s not forget everyone’s favourite resident the trusty red tractor, who’s still around and ready to take your imagination on a ride around the farm.
The information centre and newly stocked shop means you can take away a little piece of your Easter farm experience, with low priced gifts and toys, fresh free range eggs and even pets for sale.
The fun doesn’t stop there, as families can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Graves Park, playground, duck pond, and the family friendly Rose Garden café, so why not make a day – or two – of it and get yourselves down to the farm this Easter.
The farm’s opening hours are 9am to 4pm, entry to the farm is free and pay and display parking is available on site.
