Romano Jilo, a group of young Roma dancers will appear as will the One World Choir, a singing group comprised of refugees and asylum seekers from many countries. Like Saturday, a large brass band will be in attendance, this time coming in the form of 18-piece supergroup Tin Soldiers.

On Saturday and Sunday, Barker’s Pool promises some of the biggest names in street theatre on the festival and street circuit programmed by Professor Vanessa Toulmin from The University of Sheffield with support from Sheffield BID and Orchard Square. Barker’s Pool also includes food traders and a fully stocked bar.

The Peace Gardens will be the perfect spot to soak up the unique atmosphere on offer during The Fringe at Tramlines. There will be an 80s/90s disco for anyone who fancies a dance and plenty of deckchairs when it’s time for a sit down. The helter-skelter, roaming street entertainers and fantastic food on offer will be perfect for families. Also in this area will be local ales from Loxley Brewery and the Kinsman Wine Bar.

Councillor Mary Lea, Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Leisure at Sheffield City Council, said:
“The brilliant variety of acts on offer at the Fringe at Tramlines this weekend means that there will be something for all the family; whether you’re watching dance groups and DJs sets at the main stage on Devonshire Green, or enjoying the street entertainment and array of food on offer at Barker’s Pool and the Peace Gardens.
“The Fringe at Tramlines is also a special opportunity to bring the city together, and it’s great to see lots of wonderful venues getting involved in the festival spirit this year and making the Fringe their own.”

Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID Manager, said:

“Following a hugely successful debut event last year, we’re delighted to be bringing The Fringe at Tramlines back to the city centre next month.
“The Fringe showcases our talented local musicians and provides them with a unique platform to reach a large audience. We’re once again looking forward to seeing a vibrant, carnival atmosphere in the city centre, with the thousands of extra visitors helping to support our local businesses.”

In addition to the outdoor stages and activities listed above, Sheffield venues across the city will be opening their doors over the weekend with both paid and free events. Church – Temple of Fun is free to enter all weekend with punk bands including Banditos and Inner Terrestrials on Friday, a daytime rave from Off Me Nut Records and DnB legend Nicky Blackmarket supported by Junglist Alliance on Saturday. Sunday at Church is ‘Temple of Jazz’ hosted by Blancmange Lounge.
