A spokesman for Sheffield City Council, said: “We know that residents of Oakbrook Road will be concerned regarding the ongoing situation, and we will be providing facilities for them while they are evacuated from their homes.

“All those who are currently unable to gain access to their homes are advised to return to the cordon that is currently in place and speak to the officers who are there, who will be able to give them advice.

“Equally, if they prefer to stay with friends and family elsewhere and are able to do so, then we know that this might be preferable.

“Updates will be provided via our Twitter account, @sheffcouncil, and through the local media, while the cordon remains in place, and we are working with our partner agencies to ensure that people can return home as soon as possible.”
