Sheffield’s Council leaders will be taking their next Cabinet meeting to the south of the city later this month.

The City Council is holding a series of ‘Question Time’ style sessions over the winter months to discuss issues that matter to people in their local areas.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 27 January and will be begin at 6.30pm (refreshments from 6pm) in the Terry Wright Community Centre at Newfield Green.

This will be the third in the present series of the ‘Cabinet in the Community’ meetings across the city to give more people the opportunity to come and ask questions and get involved in the debate about Council issues across the city.

The focus of these meetings is to ask local people for their views on how they engage with the council. The events include the usual opportunity to put any questions of concern to the relevant Cabinet Member.

Councillor Julie Dore, Leader of Sheffield City Council said: “Over the last few years we have found the Cabinet in the Community events to be a positive way of connecting with people across the city. We’ve had some really lively debates and discussions on issues that matter to people in those areas.

“I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to take part in some more really important debates in each part of the city. I hope as many people as possible will use the sessions as a way of engaging in democracy at a local level.”

The items for discussion will be drawn up by local people and put to the Cabinet in the hour and a half session.

Residents will be able to submit written questions at least five days in advance of each meeting by emailing CabinetintheCommunity@sheffield.gov.uk. Where possible, questions will be grouped together so that a more focussed discussion can take place.

Events will also be set up on Facebook for each of the Cabinet in the Community sessions, which residents can join to keep up with all the latest information. To find these events, visit the Our Sheffield or Sheffield Events Facebook pages.
