Following Sheffield United’s triumphant Premier League promotion celebration on Tuesday, which saw 15,000 fans gather in the city centre, Council Leader Julie Dore has given personal thanks to the teams working behind the scenes to clean-up after the party.

Once the fans had dispersed, AMEY’s street cleaning team swooped in and worked in to the night to bring Sheffield back to business as usual.

As part of their duties under the Streets Ahead highways maintenance contract, Amey workers responded swiftly to the aftermath of the event, returning the city to its former state.

In a letter to Amey’s street cleaning team today, the Council Leader commended those who had ‘worked relentlessly behind the scenes’ and expressed her appreciation for the clean-up operation which enabled us ‘all to enjoy a clean and tidy city centre once again’.

Cllr Dore went on to say how these high standards of service demonstrate the city’s ability to continue hosting these important and memorable events for the people of Sheffield.

Eleven operatives were tasked with cleaning up the area surrounding the event and continued into the early hours until 6am, preparing the streets for the Wednesday morning commuters.

Street cleaning is undertaken across Sheffield by Amey on a continuous basis to help keep the city as litter- free as possible.
