Labour has retained control of Sheffield City Council following today’s local election results, which were announced this afternoon at the English Institute of Sport in Attercliffe.
Of the 28 seats that were contested, Labour won 21, the Liberal Democrats took five, UKIP one seat and the Green Party one seat.
Labour gained two new seats, taking one from the Green Party in Central ward and one from the Liberal Democrats in Beauchief and Greenhill.
Meanwhile, Labour lost a seat in Broomhill to the Green Party, and another seat in Stocksbridge and Upper Don ward to UKIP.
