Sheffield’s adoptive parents and their families are invited to a coffee and cake morning this weekend, to thank them for giving their children a happy childhood and a fantastic future.

There are 25 children aged 0-9 waiting to be adopted in Sheffield right now, and it is hoped that raising awareness of adoption during this week will encourage more people to come forward to apply.

Sheffield City Council welcomes applications from all prospective parents who can offer children unconditional love, support and happiness, regardless of their marital status, sexual orientation or cultural background.

Councillor Jackie Drayton, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families at Sheffield City Council, said:

“I’m so proud of adoptive parents in Sheffield who have changed children’s lives by welcoming them into their families and giving them forever homes.

“We now need more people like them to come forward and adopt the children and young people currently in our care, to give them the love and stability that every child deserves.

“All parents are closely supported through the adoption process by our highly trained teams and there’s lots of training and practical support available whenever they need it.

“We encourage applications from a wide variety of people, so please do get in touch if you think you can make a young life a happy life.”
