The Clean Sheffield campaign is calling on all residents and businesses to help them ‘pick their patch’ on Saturday 3rd October.
The aim of the event is for residents to come out onto their street and in our parks in the 3rd October and using a disposable bag and reusable glove to pick the litter they see. The litter will then be disposed of as part of their household rubbish.
Cllr Terry Fox, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: “We work hard to keep the city clean. We have over 3,500 litter bins across the city as well as over 200 staff who work to keep the city and our parks clean. This costs us millions each year.
“The aim of the ‘pick your patch’ day is to show residents and businesses that you do not need to be part of an organised group and it doesn’t need to take hours to help keep the city clean. If everyone played a small part and picked up and disposed of the litter they see on a day to day basis, we could all make a huge difference in our city.
“I encourage everyone to come out on the 3rd October and show their support in keeping our beautiful city clean.”
Residents are also being encourage to tweet their photos of their work during the ‘pick you patch’ event to @sccstreetsahead.
