Sheffield is proud to be hosting the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games in 2017.

Today starts the search for 900 volunteers to help make The Games a success and Sheffield’s sporting legends, Special Olympics athletes and the Lord Mayor are amongst those calling for people to come forward.

The National Summer Games will run from 7 August 2017 to 11 August 2017, with around 2,600 athletes with intellectual disabilities taking part in 19 sport events.

The Games are run by Special Olympics GB, the largest registered charity providing year round sports training and competition opportunities for people with intellectual (learning) disabilities.
