Winter roadshows will be taking place at a number of locations across the city so that the Streets Ahead team can advise residents and businesses on how to prepare for wintry weather.

The team will be bringing their roadshow bus, as well as a gritter, to two locations in Sheffield. The events will offer the public information on how to prepare for all kinds of severe weather, as well as inform them of how Streets Ahead is prepared to grit and maintain the roads during winter.

The events will take place on:

  • Tuesday 3rd November at Barkers Pool, from 11am to 2pm
  • Tuesday 10th November Orange Car Park at Meadowhall

Cllr Terry Fox, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: “Each year we ensure that the Streets Ahead team are ready to respond to manage whatever the weather brings. This year we also need the public to play their part.

“I am encouraging everyone to visit one of the winter events and to speak to the team who can give them hints and tips about how they can be ready. By doing little things such as clearing the pavement outside your house or using public transport when it does snow, this will help us all move around the city easier during the wintery weather.”

Streets Ahead’s Operations Manager, Lynsey Connelly, said: “Our winter maintenance service operates 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week whenever the weather demands and we’re well prepared for the winter ahead.

“We’re looking forward to holding these winter events across a number of locations and the Streets Ahead team will be available to answer any questions that the public may have about the service we carry out through the winter months.”

Younger visitors to the bus will also be able to climb aboard Steel City Gritter or colour in a picture of their very own gritter.
