Kollider Projects has joined forces with the people behind Tamper, Peddler and Depot bakery to create Kollider Social, a 16,000 sqft curated space to both work and relax on the upper ground floor of the new Kollider Project at Castle House.
This iconic open space in the old Co-Op Department Store, Castle House, will be home to several street food inspired independent gourmet food vendors hand-picked from around the country, together with bar, an area for private dining and a unique social work and event space.
The doors will open early every morning to the irresistible aromas of freshly baked Depot Bakery croissants and fresh ground Tamper coffee. Visitors for lunch and dinner will be presented with a wide array of food choices and flavours inspired by food trends from around the world, complimented by their favourite cocktail, craft beer and wine in a wonderful space with something for everyone.
Nick Morgan from Kollider Projects says; “Kollider Social brings together a collection of passionate, worldly people, driven by a desire to create innovative food, drink and social experiences in amazing spaces. The project at Castle House will bring a landmark building back into use in line with its provenance as a place for everyone in the community, a place to work and play, a place to connect and network around great food and drink. We felt it was important that Castle House should be accessible to more than people who will work in the building, Kollider Social will achieve that goal.”
Jonathan Perry from Tamper says: “For my part, I feel that Sheffield has missed out on some of the great food experiences available in other cities both here in the UK and overseas. Kollider Social is an opportunity to redress this and transform part of this amazing building into a dynamic environment for food, creativity and connection. More than just a food hall, this will be a place of constant innovation, a place to celebrate great food every day, whether that be a simple sandwich or a tasting menu from one of the UK’s leading chefs. We believe in the power of great food and great social spaces to bring people together.”
Ben Smith from Peddler said: “Kollider Social represents a natural evolution for Sheffield’s increasingly exciting independent food scene. Indeed this provides a natural incubator environment for those food brands with growth potential, that may have cut their teeth on the Kerb and now want to develop into a more permanent site. This will be a place for emerging food brands from within Sheffield and outside of the city to take risks, innovate, grow their audience reach, and in so doing, they are able to mature their brands into sustainable food businesses within an area of the city that promises to be an increasingly creative, vibrant and dynamic part of Sheffield’s Cultural offer. The opportunity to be involved in curating a collective food offer, in such an iconic building is extremely exciting for us and we are cannot wait to open the doors.
Councillor Mazher Iqbal, cabinet member for business and investment at SCC, said:
“Tamper Coffee, Pellder and the Depot are three of Sheffield’s biggest success stories of recent years and are all a super addition to the rapidly-developing plans for Castle House. Everybody knows that these three companies plays a big part in the creative industries and they have fashioned a reputation that appeals to the start-up, switched-on ethos we are trying to establish at the new Kollider facility. Credit to Tamper, the Depot and Peddler that they have seen the area’s massive potential and want to play a part in its exciting rebirth.”
