A global hearing implant manufacturer has recently celebrated the opening of its new office after relocating their UK operations to new premises in Sheffield.
MED-EL, who research and manufacture world-leading hearing loss solutions for people living with a wide range of hearing losses have also this year celebrated 25 years in the UK so they marked the double celebration with an open day at their new Chapeltown offices.
Local businesses, councillors, and some of the people whose lives have been changed thanks to MED-EL’s innovative cochlear implant technology were all in attendance at the celebratory event.
MED-EL’s clinical specialists were on hand to demonstrate their wide range of hearing devices, how they help patients and the amazing technology behind them.
Audiologist, Gianluca Lombardelli who runs his own occupational health business was also present at the event to carry out free hearing tests to anyone in attendance and did a total of 16 tests on the day making some recommendations for people to visit their GP or local audiologist for further help.
Councillor Mazher Iqbal, Cabinet Member for Business and Investment, who was in attendance at the open day said: “I was astounded to see the technology that MED-EL have created and to see what an amazing impact it can have on people suffering with hearing loss.
“We’re really pleased to welcome MED-EL to Sheffield and I believe this global business is a welcome addition to Sheffield’s already esteemed/prestigious businesses.”
Managing Director of MED-EL UK, Cassandra Brown, who herself has just celebrated 20 years of service with the company said: “We are thrilled to have received such a warm welcome from local businesses in Sheffield and it’s great to be part of this well-established community of companies with an enviable reputation for entrepreneurialism and world class products and services.
“Our mission is to overcome hearing loss as a barrier to communication and quality of life and our strong and consistent focus on research as a privately-owned company enables us to do this and put our patients at the heart of everything we do here in Sheffield and further afield.”
