Do you have a child that loves the outdoors and being creative? Would they like to design a postcard that is displayed across Sheffield and promotes the city?
Sheffield, known as The Outdoor City, has a new website to promote its outstanding natural environment, which is full of ideas about where to go and what to do.
Now young artists, graphic designers and photographers are being asked to design a new postcard to show what The Outdoor City means to them. This can cover anything from climbing, biking, running, hiking, picnicking or parkour to favourite places such as Bluebell Woods or one of the many BMX or mountain bike tracks in Sheffield.
The competition is part of Sheffield’s new Outdoor City Adventure Book Festival which runs at Sheffield’s Central Library from Friday 3 June to Sunday 5 June.
The winning entry will be printed as a postcard and used to promote The Outdoor City website at venues across Sheffield and at major events like the next of The Outdoor City Weekenders.
Anyone aged three to 16 years old can apply.
Entries must be completed by Monday 6 June and handed in at Sheffield Central Children’s Library on Surrey Street or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org The winning entry will be picked on Monday 20 June.
The Outdoor City Adventure Book Festival is new this year and will see two packed days to immerse outdoor lovers in literature, film, photography and children’s activities.
Councillor Jack Scott, cabinet member for community services at Sheffield City Council, said: “The new Outdoor City Adventure Book Festival is a big thing for the library and we’ve planned it for people who love adventure and the great outdoors.
“There’s a lot going on for children as well as adults and we want to inspire and enthral people.
“I hope as many people take part as possible. I’m looking forward to seeing the competition entries.”
Competition pictures can be any size, in colour or black and white. Please print your name and a contact number and email address for a parent, carer or teacher on the back so we can contact the competition winner.
