Sheffield City Council’s most inspiring learners were recognised at a prize-giving ceremony at Sheffield Town Hall last Thursday 18 July.

The Sheffield City Council Training Awards, organised by Opportunity Sheffield and Lifelong Learning, celebrated the great achievements of council-trained apprentices, adult learners, and other students.

Councillor Adam Hurst presented trophies and certificates to learners across a series of categories, including Apprentice of the Year 2019, Red Tape Music Awards and Sheaf Training Awards.

The event was attended by 30 learners from the Council’s Sheaf Training, Red Tape Central and CDC training centres who have excelled during the past year, through their commitment, achievement and progression.

Councillor Abtisam Mohamed, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Sheffield City Council said:

It’s really important to celebrate people’s successes and I think it’s fantastic that we can make people feel valued and appreciated for the efforts they put in to their day to day careers.

“We know that by investing in apprenticeships now, it helps to shape the future workforce of Sheffield.

“I’m proud that the council are able to train so many people across the city, helping people to achieve their goals and create a career that works for them.”
