Under the proposals approved by the council’s planning committee, Placefirst plans to build a mix of three and four-bedroom family homes off Skye Edge Avenue. The site, located on a prominent position overlooking Sheffield city centre, had previously been awaiting redevelopment since 2006.
Skye Edge is located on the eastern edge of Sheffield city centre and has been vacant since a deck-access housing scheme built in the 1970s was demolished in 2006. Since then the site has been used as informal open space by the local community and, under the approved plans, Placefirst will retain a large area of open space complimented by a new children’s play area.
Placefirst aims to commence construction in May 2019, working with in-house contractor, Placefirst Construction. The first homes should be ready to welcome new families from April 2020, with show homes expected to be ready 2-3 months earlier. Full completion of Skye Edge is anticipated by December 2020.
